♥ 2014 Makeup Favourites! ♥

Hey girlies!

This post is super late I know! It has been so crazy hot here in Australia & I just didn’t have the strength to brave the heat in my room to take a million photos for this post… 😛 But it’s here now so enjoy! If you would like another post about my skincare, hair care & other beauty favourites then let me know!

BASE PRODUCTS

IMG_8486

L to R: MUFE HD Foundation, Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque, MAC Studio Finish concealer, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer.

Favourite Foundation

Winner: Makeup Forever HD Foundation

This baby is super lightweight, provides medium buildable coverage, and looks like skin, yet it also looks airbrushed! Love ❤

Runner-up: Covergirl 3-in-1 foundation

I love this foundation as well, especially since it’s a lot more budget friendly! It’s also super long wearing which I love.

Best Corrector

Winner: Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque

This baby covers those dark circles like nothing else! Pop it on after foundation & before your flesh toner concealer & watch those pesky under eye circles bite the dust!

Best Concealer

Winners: MAC Studio Finish Concealer & IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye

Yep it’s a tie for first place! Mainly because I like to use different formulas of concealer for different areas. I prefer a cream concealer for covering blemishes & areas that need a bit more coverage & a liquid concealer for under my eyes. I love both of these!

Top L to R: MAC Sculpting Powder in Emphasize, Bare Minerals Well Rested, Ben Nye Cameo luxury powder.

Favourite Powder

These are my 3 favourite powders to set my foundation/concealer. I like to use either Emphasize or Well Rested under my eyes to set my concealer. Generally I will only use Well Rested if I’m looking extra tired & need some extra brightening under there.

Ben Nye Cameo is my preferred setting powder for my face as you may have guessed! It’s super finely milled & doesn’t make you look totally matte & flat. It also doesn’t add any coverage or change the colour of your foundation.

FACE PRODUCTS

From L to R: The Balm Mary Lou-manizer, Benefit High Beam, Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil bronzer.

Favourite Highlighter

Winner (powder): The Balm Mary Lou-manizer

This is just the best highlighter ever. It gives you an intense champagne glow. When I use highlighter I like it give me an intense glow! Not a subtle one :p

Winner (liquid): Benefit High Beam

I also absolutely love Benefit High Beam. This baby is a pink/champagne colour & is perfect for us fairer skinned ladies! I love mixing a bit of this in with my foundation to give me an extra glow.

Favourite Bronzer

Winner: Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil bronzer

Personally, I don’t use bronzer to actually “bronze” the skin, I use it to contour and stop my face from looking so round 😉 If you’re using a bronzer to contour and add shadows to the face it’s best to go with a matte one! Milk Chocolate is a nice light brown shade that isn’t to orange on the skin. Again a great option for us fair ladies! And it smells like chocolate which makes me love it more.

From Top L to R: Makeup Geek blushes in Hanky Panky, Head Over Heels, Rendezvous, MAC Dainty Mineralize Blush.

Favourite Blush

Ok I couldn’t decide on an ultimate favourite blush. I am obsessed with all the Makeup Geek blushes because they are pigmented, long lasting & affordable! I also love my MAC blush in Dainty & it’s what I reach for when I’m not sure what to wear as it goes with any look.

BROW & EYE PRODUCTS

IMG_8500

Top L to R: Benefit Gimme Brow in light/medium, Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown, Benefit They’re Real mascara, Manicare eyelash curler.

Brows

Winners: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown &  Benefit Gimme Brow in light/medium

I use both of these on a daily basis. First I use dipbrow to fill in my brows, and them I go through them with Gimme brow to set them & make them look a bit more like hair. They are both amazing & if you haven’t tried them yet, run and get them! Especially dipbrow!

Mascara

Winner: Benefit They’re Real

This was so hard to choose. But I’ve been using They’re real for longer & I love it so much. It lengthens & separates the lashes like crazy, which is what I look or in a mascara! Some people say thsi is hard to remove, but I don;t think it is. I just take it off with a normal eye makeup remover and it’s all good!

Runner-up: Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara

This is the mascara I’m currently using, and oh my god I love it so much! It is super lengthening just like Benefit They’re real. It is quite hard to get a hold of though as it always seems to be sold out everywhere! Also the brush is quite big in my opinion, and I like the Benefit wand more.

Lash Curler

I have been using my Manicare eyelash curler for years & it’s still going strong. I just replace the rubber insert occasionally. This was pretty affordable & works perfectly! Curling your lashes is a must!

Clockwise from top: LORAC Behind the scenes eye primer, Makeup Geek pigments in Afterglow, Insomnia & Vegas Lights, L’Oreal Infallible eye shadow in Amber Rush, MAC Painterly paint pot.

Eye Primer

Winner: LORAC Behind the scenes eye primer

I just really love this stuff. It keeps creasing at bay & extends wear time & pigmentation of your shadows!

Eyeshadow Base

Winner: MAC Painterly paint pot

Yes I use an eye primer and base. My eyeshadow just seems to want to crease on me! But this combo works great 🙂

Single Shadows

Winner:  L’Oreal Infallible eye shadow in Amber Rush

These particular eyeshadows by L’Oreal are pressed pigments, so they are super pigmented and gorgeous. I love all the ones I have, but especially Amber Rish, which is a gorgeous rose gold.

Pigments

Winner: Makeup Geek

All the Makeup Geek pigments I own are absolutely stunning. I love absolutely everything from MUG that I’ve tried!

Eyeshadow

Winner: Makeup Geek single eyeshadows

I told you guys I loved Makeup Geek didn’t I?! Their shadows are unparalleled. They are super pigmented, blendable, affordable (at $5.99 US a pan) and come in a huge variety of shades & finishes. I reach for my custom Makeup Geek Z palette daily. That’s how good they are!

LIPS

Top to Bottom: MAC lipstick in Creme Cup, Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Lovely.

Favourite Lipstick

Winner: MAC lipstick in Creme Cup

Overall, as a brand I love all of the MAC lipsticks. They have a wide variety of different shades and finishes. But I do have an ultimate favourite! Creme Cup is the perfect pink toned nude & is perfect for fair skinned women with a pink undertone. But it will suit other skin tones as well 🙂

Favourite Liquid Lipstick

Winner: Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick

As you guys may have seen, liquid lipsticks with a matte finish have been everywhere lately! My ultimate favourite out of those I’ve tried is the ABH offering, as they don'[t dry your lips out & last all day! My favourite shade is Lovely, a nude pink shade that’s perfect for everyday wear.

TOOLS

From bottom L to R: Sigma brushes in E40 & E38, NARS ITA, Beauty Blender original.

Favourite Brushes

Winner: Sigma

Overall as a brand I love Sigma brushes. The majority of brushes I use are by Sigma and they’re great quality. The E40 & E38 are my favourite brushes for buffing oput the crease & blending your eyeshadows to perfection!

Honourable mention goes to my NARS ITA which is prefect for contouring the face, and of course my trusty beauty blender, which I use to bledn out my under eye concealer & eliminate any streaks from the face.

That’s it guys! This mammoth post is complete! 😀 I hope you enjoyed reading & please let me know what your 2014 favourites were in the comments! Also let me know if you’d like to see what my favourite skincare/hair care etc products were.
