Stila In the light palette: Review, Photos, Swatches.

Hey beauties!

Today I will be reviewing the Stila In the light palette for you all. This was featured in my last USA haul & I also gave one away in my last giveaway. Now onto the review!

How does it perform?

Pigmentation:  3/5. All shadows are decently pigmented. However as is annoyingly common with most eyeshadow formulas, the shimmer shades are a lot more pigmented than the matte shades.

Texture:  4/5. The Stila In the light palette houses 6 shimmer shades & 4 mattes. As you can see in the swatches above, the texture of the shadows differ depending on their finish. However in general, they are all smooth, and the shimmer shades apply like butter.

Packaging:  3/5. The packing of this palette is sleek and compact, but it is still a little bulky, when you compare it to the LORAC Pro palette which is extremely slim. However this is because it houses a full size Stila smudgestick in Damsel (a matte dark brown). The packaging is cardboard, but is still quite sturdy, and features a magnetic closure.

Longevity: 5/5. These shadows all have great longevity and last 12 hrs + with a primer. You can’t argue with that!

Application:  4/5. All the shades apply well, however the shimmer shades require less work as they are a lot more pigmented than their matte counterparts.

Bang for your buck (quality for the $$):  4/5. The Stila In the light palette contains 10 eyeshadows, and 14g of product. It also contains a full size Stila smudgestick in Damsel, which retails for $20 alone.

The Stila In the light palette retails for $39.00 (US), and is available to purchase from beauty.com,  sephora.com, ulta.com, and beautybay.com which offer free international shipping.

What do you think of this palette? Would you try it?

You’re welcome! 🙂 I liked how you took pictures in different lighting too. I really want that palette now lol

Yeah I think it’s good to see how it looks in natural & artificial light. Haha you should get it! It’s pretty good value seeing as you get a full size eyeliner & 10 eyeshadows.

I have another Stila palette in this same collection and it’s wonderful. I really adore Stila eyeshadows and I’ve been lusting after this one since I swatched it in Ulta. If I only had more room in my makeup case…

Oh, no! That little dent in ‘kitten’ makes my heart sad! Such a lovely shadow – I even bought an extra just in the pot! And I completely agree with you about the (not so) bulky packaging. I feel like every company should take a page from Lorac and make super, super slim packaging… We shall see how Urban Decay responds with their next palette… 🙂 Great review

Yeah haha. I have a habit of hitting shadows with the end of my brush somehow 😦 but oh well. Once I use that part it will look fine 😉

I love Kitten and Sunshine! *-* The palette looks gorgeous in the packaging but I don’t think I’d purchase it after seeing the swatches.

    • kflowermaquillage says:

Yeah it doesn’t swatch that great does it? But I guess it’s being transferred from my fingers to my arm so a lot of product doesn’t transfer. It applies pretty well to the eyelids over a primer though 🙂 I’m excited to do my brown look tomorrow!
