Rimmel London The Only 1 Review, Photos & Lip Swatches!*

Hi guys,

Today I have a full review and lip swatches of the new Rimmel The Only 1 lipsticks.

If you want to know my thoughts then keep reading!

The stain left after wiping with micellar water.

Top row L to R: Easy does it, Cheeky coral, Call me crazy.

Bottom row L to R: Revolution red, Listen up!, One-of-a-kind.

Top L to bottom R: Easy does it, Cheeky coral, Call me crazy, Revolution red, Listen up!, One-of-a-kind.

What Rimmel says:

” A no compromise all-in-one lipstick that is challenging the lipstick history.
The perfect balance of high impact colour, moisture, all day comfort and staying power. Slanted lipstick bullet for an effortless application.”

What I say:

Pigmentation: 4/5. These are very decently pigmented seeing as they have such a creamy formula. All shades I have are nicely pigmented and not streaky!

Texture:  4/5. I really like the texture of these. They have a thin, lightweight consistency and aren’t drying or cakey on the lips. I would compare them to the creme sheen formula by MAC, but a little lighter to wear. They are super hydrating which I love!

Packaging: 4/5. I quite like the packaging of these. The bottom is the standard lipstick size, so they still fit easily into lipstick storage, and I really like the strip of colour on the black packaging which matches the lipstick shade inside.

Longevity:  3/5. These are not super long wearing lipsticks due to the super hydrating formula.  However as you can see in the photos above, they do leave a stain on the lips when they wear off. If you want to improve the lasting power I suggest using a lip liner underneath.

Application: 4/5. The slanted tip does make it easy to apply to the lips, however it is a bit hard to perfect the cupids bow because the lipstick doesn’t have a point to it.

Bang for your buck (quality for the $$): 4/5. I think these are really great quality for the price ($15.95AU). There is a wide variety of shades in the range (12 shades) and they all have great pigmentation and are overall a pretty great formula. Since trialing these 6 I have already picked up another shade, so you can tell I really do like them! A stunning nude pink if you were wondering😛

The Rimmel London The Only 1 lipsticks are available in supermarkets, chemists, Priceline and more. They retail for $15.96AU full price, but there are always sales on at chemist warehouse and Priceline, so if you want more of a bargain just wait for a sale🙂.

Irresistible Me Hair Extensions: Review & Photos*

Hi beauties,

I’m back with another post for you today! I know it’s been awhile… I’ve been busy studying, but I decided to take a study “break” and write up this post! I’ve had these pictures ready for ages, back when my hair was red and I was 6kg heavier! But hey at least I’m posting it now right?🙂

Today I am reviewing the Irresistible Me royal remy 22 inch 200gram hair extensions in royal ginger. Let’s take a look shall we?

As you can see they come packaged pretty well, in a zip lock bag with 2 separate compartments. You can open up one side to test the colour and if they don’t match you can then send them back which I think is a great idea.

The extensions come secured in rubber bands in a large hair net. To be honest I was pretty dissapointed they were secured with rubber bands as opposed to ribbons or even hair ties, as the rubber band did get caught on some hair. Also as you can see there was a small amount of glue on one of my wefts near the clip which I had to wash out prior to use. So overall my initial impression wasn’t a good one!

Despite my initial reaction of course I then tried them out. As you can see they add a lot of volume and length to my hair. I wish my hair was still red so I could still wear them!

These hair extensions are 100% human remy hair so you can colour and style them. I always recommend to curl the extensions with your natural hair to help them blend in and look natural.

Now onto what I love and don’t love:

  • Human hair, easy to style and blend in with your natural hair.
  • In this particular set there is one very thick weft, so if you put this towards the bottom of your head you can get away with using less wefts while not compromising on length of volume.
  • The wefts are well stitched to the clips and the clips sit flush against your head so are easy to blend.

  • Packaging. Not a fan of the rubber bands, I expect more for the price of these extensions.
  • The price tag is quite steep, but they are still cheaper than getting micro bead or tape extensions in a salon.

Overall I do enjoy wearing extensions for added length and volume for special occasions, but I definitely wouldn’t wear them everyday! While these are pricey, they are good quality hair that is super soft!

Do you guys ever wear hair extensions? What is your favourite brand you’ve tried? Let me know in the comments!

Also, I will be working on blogging more consistently after my exam on Tuesday! Fingers crossed I can get at least 1 post a week up for you so please leave me some requests!

MAC x Ellie Goulding Review & Swatches!

Hey guys!

Today I finally have my MAC x Ellie Goulding haul for you, complete with lots of swatches!

In case you guys don’t know, I am a massive fan of Ellie Goulding. I have all her albums, and basically listen to them on repeat. So when I found out she was releasing a collaboration with MAC I was counting down the days until I could get my hands on it! And yes… I did basically get the whole collection.

This is a picture heavy post so get ready to feast your eyes🙂

Halcyon Nights and Halcyon Days.

Halcyon Days.

Halcyon Days features 4 cream colour bases and a blot powder in medium/dark (which surprisingly doesn’t look that dark). The shades inside are (clockwise from top left) Wish I Stayed, Tint, Everytime You Go and Root. All the shades have shimmer except for Everytime You Go which is matte (and gorgeous!). You can use the cream colour bases for just about anything, but personally I’m inclined to use the peachy pink as a cream blush, and the others as eyeshadows/bases.

Halcyon Nights.

Halcyon Nights features 4 eyeshadows in (clockwise from top left) Starry Eyed (frost), You My Everything (matte), Saddle (matte)(permanent shade), Hanging On (satin). It also has a cream colour base in This Love tucked away underneath, which is a shimmery bronze. As you can see, the eyeshadows are gorgeous! I would have to say Halcyon Nights is my favourite out of both palettes.

I’ll Hold My Breath.

Next up is the powder blush in I’ll Hold My Breath, which features a shimmery bronzer and peachy pink toned blush. The blush is such a gorgeous shade, a nice warm peach pink, but I’m a bit scared of that bronzer on my pasty white skin!

Lipsticks in L to R: Without Your Love, Only You.

Both of these are Cremesheen formulas, so they are nice and hydrating on the lips. They aren’t as opaque as mattes, but 2 swipes will give you opaque coverage, and will give your lips a nice sheen!

Patent polish lip pencils in L to R: Innocent, Revved.

I’ve never tried patent polish lip pencils before, so I had no idea what to expect. As you would expect from the name, they have a brilliant sheen to them. As you can see below, Innocent is definitely on the sheer side, and Revved has decent pigmentation.

Top to bottom: Revved, Innocent, Only You, Without Your Love.

Plush glasses in L to R: Explosion, Goodness Gracious.

Top to bottom: Goodness Gracious, Explosion, Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel (repromote).

Explosion is a high shine gloss with gold micro glitter, and no it doesn’t feel gross and gritty when applied! This shade would be perfect for enhancing your lips and making them appear fuller.

Goodness Gracious is another peach toned pink shade, I guess we know Ellie’s favourite shades to wear?! Again, this shade is super high shine, but doesn’t feel sticky.

The MAC x Ellie Goulding collection is still available on both the US website and Australian website.

What do you guys think? Would you try anything from this collection?

Makeup Look: Bronze Eyes and Blood Red Lips

Hi guys!

I’m back with another post for you!

FYI my post schedule will now be Thursdays and Sundays so hopefully I can manage that on top of work and study!

Todays post is a makeup look I wore yesterday. I don’t get to wear fun makeup during the week, so I love doing fun looks on the weekends. For this look the star products were the Morphe 35O palette and Jeffree Star Unicorn Blood. Read on to see the look❤

Products used:

L to R: Morphe 35O palette, Maybelline Dream Lumi in Radiant, Tarte Maracuja concealer, Benefit Roller Lash, Makeup Geek Spell Bound blush, Jeffree Star Unicorn Blood, Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow in Auburn,  Illamasqua cream pigment in Hollow, Urban Decay Naked Skin, Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/medium, The Balm Mary Lou-manizer. I also used Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, NARS Pro-prime eye primer, Inglot Mattifying pressed powder, MAC Emphasize sculpting powder, Skindinavia Oil Control setting spray (not pictured).

To create this look I first applied the cream shade in the top left corner all over the lids and up to the brow using a fluffy brush as a base over the primer. Next I buffed the warm brown in the middle of the 2nd top row into the crease and outer corners, before going in with the light brown on the left of the middle row. I then intensified this with the chocolate brown in the very middle of the palette, buffing it into the outer corners and up into the crease. I then added some of the red toned brown on the right side of the 2nd bottom row to the outer corners, and worked the shimmery copper beside it all over the lid. I also added a small amount of the rose gold above that to the center of my lid. For the bottom lashline I first worked in the light brown on the left of the middle row, and then went in with the red toned brown on the right of the 2nd bottom row closer to the lashline. To highlight I used the same cream shade from the start to highlight the browbone, and used Mary Lou-manizer on the inner corners. I finished off with nude eyeliner in the waterline and some mascara. I wasn’t feeling eyeliner, but you could definitely use some if you like!

What do you think of this look? Would you wear it?

I’ve been loving this palette lately so expect to see some more looks featuring it!

Mini Collective Haul: Jeffree Star, Becca & More

Hi guys!

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas (or holiday period if you don’t celebrate) spent with family and good food!

Today I have a mini collective haul from a month or so ago😉 Since then I have had a couple more US packages arrive… so stay tuned for more haul posts to come soon! The Christmas sets were just too good to pass up this year ok…

I picked up a few things from Sephora AU, Priceline during their 40% off makeup sale, Mecca and Makeup and Glow! Read on to see what I picked up.

From Sephora AU I picked up 2 backups of Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop, because it’s LE and I’m obsessed ok. I also got one of their poured shimmering skin perfectors in Pearl. It’s such a gorgeous light white/silvery cream highlight, perfect for pale girls! I’m so excited that they finally came out with a pressed version of Pearl, so I’ll need to get my hands on that at some point!

Jeffree Star recently released some  limited edition Velour Liquid Lipsticks, which looked devine so of course I had to get a few. My first Jeffree Star products, hallelujah! I picked up (L to R) Hoe Hoe Hoe, Androgyny and Doll Parts. I also picked up a Shanghai Suzy lipstick in Miss Tanielle desert rose, which comes off a lot more brown than desert rose, but I’ll give it a try!

Another LE item I just had to have. The NARS x Steven Klein One Shocking Moment cheek palette. This baby features (L to R > top to bottom) Paloma contour blush/blush sculptant (basically a matte light cream hued highlighter and matte bronzer/contour shade), Laguna, Robotic, Blasphemy, Luster and Dolce Vita.

Last but not least I picked up some goodies from Priceline’s 40% off makeup sale a month or so ago. I picked up a Lanolips lip ointment (the best lip balm ever) in Rhubarb, L’Oreal Infallible mattifying base, Maybelline Color Drama lip pencils in Berry Much and Fuchsia Desire, and 2 more Rimmel Exaggerate lip liners in Eastend Snob (ie. the perfect nude pink lipliner for everyday!).

Have you picked up anything recently?

Xmas Makeup Look: Sparkly gold & warm brown eyes and red lips

Hey guys,

I’m getting back into my blogging, and what better way to get back into it then with a Christmas makeup look? I went for classic gold eye and a red lip. I actually wore this look to a Christmas party last week, and it is the perfect look for the festive period! To see more read on!

Products used

From L to R: Makeup Geek eyeshadows in Shimma Shimma, Beaches & Cream, Creme Brulee, Frappe, Cocoa Bear and Mocha, Sugarpill Goldilux pigment (the most intense gorgeous gold!), Illamasqua Hollow cream pigment, Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop, Maybelline Hyper Sharp liquid liner, MAC MSF Natural in Light, Makeup Geek Romance blush,  Smashbox Studio Skin foundation, The Balm Mary Lou-manizer,  Benefit They’re Real, NARS Pro prime eyeshadow primer, Hourglass liquid lipstick in Icon, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade in Soft Brown. I also used Hourglass mineral veil primer, Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude, Face Atelier Ultra foundation in Zero Minus, Skindinavia Oil control setting spray, Benefit Gimme brow in light/medium.

For this look I applied my eye primer, and followed up with a neutral lid shade to make it easier to blend my crease shades. Next I went in with a mixture of Beaches & Cream and Creme Brulee, buffing them through the crease and outer corners. Next I buffed Frappe through the crease to deepen it, before adding a little Cocoa Bear, predominantly to the outer corners and crease. Then I added Mocha to the outer corners to deepen them. Next I applied Sugarpill Goldilux on a short shader brush to the lid, taking care not to get it into the crease. I then blended out the edges, and applied more Goldilux to intensify. I then applied Beaches & Cream, Creme Brulee and Frappe to my lower lashline and applied liquid liner to my top lashline and a nude liner to my waterline. To finish off I applied Shimma Shimma to my browbone and inner corners and applied some mascara. And you end up with a golden and warm brown smokey eye.

What do you guys think of this look? Would you rock this for Christmas?

PS. I am currently holding my 6k giveaway over on my instagram, so for a chance to win 2 Clinique blushes, a mini Too Faced melter lipstick and MAC Viva Glam Miley pop on over and enter! *Closes on the 31st*
